I think it is pretty clear from anyone following this tumblr that I am a huge Boostle shipper. They are in fact my OTP of OTP(s) after Remus/Sirius. They got me into DC and I’ll be running out of it with them. 

I know there is a stigma against slash shippers. It’s been described as just being made up of screaming fangirls cooing over half-naked guys wrestling. While I do appreciate some smut on the side, it was Booster and Ted’s friendship and over all amazing relationship that drew me into loving them completely.

They have problems. They have break-ups. They make up. They have inside jokes and camaraderie and utmost trust in each other. They’re two halves of a team—Blue and Gold—you can’t really think of one guy without the other. They’re always paired up in the comics with Ted being able to branch out a little more than Booster. I love that they’re not perfect and there are things about each other they find annoying. I like that they’re both normal guys in themselves. Not boy scouts or grade A douche bags or angst machines 24/7. They’re like a couple of guys I would meet in a bar some place and their relationship always felt very real to me.

And whether you think it’s romantic, platonic, or otherwise—they love each other. When Booster thought he died and Ted activated this-and-that (subsequently trapping him in that ugly suit, but still)—the panel just RADIATES happiness and most importantly love. Ted is over Booster, fingers in his hair, with a big grin on his face like he can’t believe he managed to save the best man he’s known. THAT is love. It’s later in that depressing arc in Booster Gold where they save Ted and Booster needs to let him go, but absolutely REFUSES since he can’t bear to say goodbye—that’s (desperate yet truthfully) love.

They probably never got it on in the comics. There was probably never hand holding or kissing or embarrassing dates. But the love IS there. It’s hard to miss and pretty fucking hard to deny. Unless you tell me you’ve saved your friend from certain death or risked the entire timeline for his survival, I won’t believe you had an exact friendship like theirs to compare to.

So, yeah. Booster loves Ted and Ted loves Booster. I don’t think they will ever love another person more than each other and to say that it’s just Regular Broship is being very fucking ignorant of their canon and over all of how deep relationships can run. It doesn’t always have to be sexual or even romantic, but it’s still.

Two things:  I originally typed the tags as Michael Kord and Ted Carter and it took me a full five minutes to recognize my mistake.  Aaand I really hope there is AU!Boostle fic based on this art.  Or, even better, Boostle meets Merlin.
